Faith Corner Thank you, God, for the changing of seasons.
Thank you for the sudden chilly wind chasing away the heat of summer.
Thank you for bright leaves and newly picked apples and pumpkin spice everything.
Thank you for the growth in our children as they settle into new classrooms with new friends and surprising new interests.
Stay with us, so that in every change we see your hand at work.
Amen.
Music Music is a part of everyday life here at St. Benedict. Did you know that our students sing together at every Tuesday Mass? They’re doing a wonderful job!
Our Kindergarteners are already experts at reading rhythms with quarter notes, eighth notes, and rests. Ask them to sing you a Halloween song or perhaps “Bear on the School Bus.”
The 1
st and 2
nd graders are working ahead to learn songs for the spring program. They are also experts in reading rhythms, in finding the steady beat, and many types of songs. The 2
nd graders can even sing in rounds!
Our 3
rd, 4
th, and 5
th graders are hoping you will join us for our November 4
th concert to honor our Veterans. We invite Veterans and active service personnel to join us.
The 6
th and 7
th graders are learning a completely new skill as they play chords, count frets, and name strings on our ukuleles. Our biggest hit so far is “Lime in the Coconut” – one finger, one string!
In music class with 8
th grade, you can hear the beats of World Drumming instruments – drums, shekeres, agogo bells, and so on. We are hoping to upgrade our drum collection in the near future.
