New Student Enrollment (1st-8th)

Welcome to the St. Benedict Catholic School admission process.  We hope you join our school community and S.O.A.R. with school pride!  This letter is a helpful checklist and guide.  To begin the admission process please read both letters and submit the required forms/documents on behalf of each applicant.

Step 1:  Submit Required Documentation:

• Read the Registration Letter
• Read the Admission Process Letter
• Complete the Permanent Record Form
• Complete the Tuition Worksheet Form
• Provide a copy of student's Birth Certificate
• Provide a copy of most recent Report Card (Grades 1-8)
• Provide a copy of all standardized test scores: MAP, IOWA, CogAT, Air-TIDE (Grades K-8)
• Request and Submit a Letter of Recommendation Form (2nd - 8th grade only) (provided by SBCS)
• Complete the Release of School Records Form
• Provide a copy of student's Baptismal Certificate (if applicable)
• Complete the Special Services Form (if applicable)
• Provide a copy of custody/guardian papers (if applicable)

Hint:  A FREE app called "Genius Scan" can be a huge help when submitting documentation digitally.  Your phone can take a picture of a document and turn it into a PDF instantly.  

Step 2:  Administration Conducts a Review Process
The administration will review the application once all of the above documentation has been submitted.  To be considered for admission we look for students who are successful in their current academic environments; who conduct themselves in a manner fitting with the St. Benedict Catholic School behavioral standards; and whose parents/guardians are invested in the education process.

Step 3:  Schedule a School Tour and Administration Meeting
The Advancement Coordinator, Mrs. McGinnis, will host scheduled tours with each applicant and family, during which you can ask questions and get an in-depth look at the opportunities a St. Benedict Catholic School education can offer your child.  You will also have a scheduled meeting with the principal at this time.  Please contact the school office to schedule a tour.

Step 4:  Schedule a Student Visit
Students applying for grades 2nd through 8th spend a day shadowing.  Arrangements will be made through the main office.

Step 5:  Enrollment Decision
After the student has completed the above steps, the application will be evaluated and an enrollment decision will be made.  As a Catholic school, our priority is to first select qualified candidates of the Catholic faith.  It is possible that a student may be put on a waitlist for classes that are at or near capacity, and parish families have first priority in cases where class space is limited.

Step 6:  Next Step Once Accepted
If your child is accepted, you will receive a packet of scholarship information that must be completed and submitted online along with a $150 Registration Fee, to secure your space and complete the admission process.
 

• Complete an EdChoice or Cleveland Scholarship Application
• Provide a copy of an Acceptable Proof of Address
• Pay $150 Registration Fee
